This week we focus on services within prison. Chapter 15 focuses on prison education programs found mostly in the US. There are a plethora of programs that exist here, but I have linked a 15-minute video (click HERE (Links to an external site.)) focusing on a prison education program in Washington State. Most research has demonstrated that offenders who avail themselves to educational programs get into less legal trouble once released. QUESTION1: What are three good things contained in Washington State’s College in Prison Program? What is at least one critique of the program?Chapter 16 focuses on therapeutic, recreational, and religious programming in prison. One type of therapeutic program gaining popularity in the US is mindfulness/meditation programs. I have had the pleasure of working with one such program and would like you to watch a 10-minute video (click HERE (Links to an external site.)) to learn more about the program.
