There are many challenges faced when creating an inclusive classroom, but there are also many steps that can be taken in order to make sure that inclusion works for everyone involved. One important aspect of creating an inclusive classroom is to develop collaborative relationships. Scrugg’s states, “Collaborating with general education teachers and administrators, and demonstrating the utility of the skills special educators can bring, can help improve the process” (Scruggs, 2017, p. 292).  This collaboration between the teachers and administration can make sure that everyone is on the same page to ensure the student with disabilities is getting the maximum amount of inclusion. Draper also adds, “developing relationships with other professionals, parents, and students themselves as collaborators can assist you in working with students with disabilities” (Draper, 2018, p. 26). This builds on the importance of developing these collaborative connections, but it also adds the idea of involving the parents and other students.
