The Phi Delta Kappan International, 56(10), 670-677. Kohlberg developed his framework for categorizing the type and level of moral reasoning a person was using based on responses from male students.  He did this by asking individuals to respond to moral dilemma.  He then developed a rubric for scoring their responses.
