High-performing teams are teams whose members have specific roles and complementary talents and skills and are aligned in purpose such that they consistently produce superior results. A high-performing team can make the difference between merely completing a project and completing a project ahead of schedule and under budget. Before becoming a high-performing team, the team will go through five stages of team development. In this assignment, you are going to reflect on a recently completed project that you took part in as a member of a team. This project could have taken place in the workplace, in the classroom, or anywhere else that you were part of a group. In a 5-page analysis, you should address the following: Address the development of the team in terms of both the five-stage model and the punctuated equilibrium model. Which model does a better job of describing the development of the team and how so? From among the situational factors affecting team development listed in your text, which factors positively or negatively contributed to the performance of the group? How were the negative factors overcome or what could be done in the future to overcome them? How well were group meetings managed? What was done particularly well and what was not done well? What specific recommendations can you provide about how groups should manage meetings on future projects?

How Can Books Support Social and Moral Development – Books that support Social and Moral Development 7Social development is a key aspect of a preschool child’s life and they are learning everyday how to navigate the world in a social way. Children thrive on friendships. They learn so much about emotions and perspective through these social interactions with friends, adults and the environment. As Piaget state in his theory that children in this age range, 2-6, are egocentric and only see their experiences through their eyes and have a hard time understanding the point of view from the other side. To help children to become more sympathetic and empathetic we as teachers must be the voiced of the “other side” so that children though a teachers modeling start to become aware that there are two sides to every story. Teaching children these skills is more of a situational thing and you have to be able to capture the situation as it is happening and use them as “teachable moments”. Books can support these learnings and help children start to understand these social and moral concepts. For this discussion you will need to share 3 books (title, author and perhaps a picture of the cover) that you have found that support social and moral development. On top of sharing three books you will need to discuss why you choose these books with support from the text and learnings.

Read both Stephen’s King’s story “The Reach” and the short handout on the characteristics of near-death experiences available under “Content–>Readings.” After you’ve done this reading, identify at least three of the characteristics of near-death experiences that occur in the story, using quotes or other specific references to the text to support your response.
