Throughout the semester we have analyzed in detail how sports documentaries’ forms and styles relate to their larger institutional and industrial contexts. In the process, we have sought to use that information to think about the implications of these films and videos on people’s ways of understanding the sociopolitical world (informed by myth and ideology). We recognize how these documentaries both shape and are shaped by people’s understandings of their relations to the world.
